Quotes: Food for Thought

I strongly believe that one’s attitude has a lot to do with the way his or her actions turn out. Because when you are determined to make something workout, no matter what, what happens? Regardless of the hurdles you face on your way, you sort through them and figure out a way to make it work. What happens when you really didn’t think it would work, but you were somehow compelled to act? At the very next obstacle, you give up and say “I never thought this would work and I told you so”.

Okay, may be this isn’t you. But I am sure you have seen this happening around you. Thus one’s attitude, mood plays a very significant but invisible role in how things turn out for him or her.

Jack Buck summarizes this beautifully in his quote,

“Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out”

So put on a can-do attitude and bring on magic around you.

Have a great long-weekend.

Thoughts that inspire me: Life’s Journey

Posted by Guru on August 22nd, 2008

Do not undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others.
It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Do not set your goals by what other people deem important.
Only you know what is best for you.
Do not take for granted the things closest to your heart.

Cling to them as you would your life, for without them, life is meaningless.
Do not let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past nor for the future.
By living your life one day at a time, you live all of the days of your life.
Do not give up when you still have something to give.
Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying.
It is a fragile thread that binds us to each other.

Do not be afraid to encounter risks.
It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.
Do not shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.
The quickest way to receive love is to give love.
The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly.
In addition, the best way to keep love is to give it wings

Do not dismiss your dreams.
To be without dreams is to be without hope.
To be without hope is to be without purpose.
Do not run through life so fast that you forget not only where you have been,
but also where you are going.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored each step of the way.

Thanks to StoryBin for this wonderful thought. You know, only you can decide how you should live and grow. So slowdown, take  a deep breath and enjoy every moment of your life. Live your life by your own standards.

Quotes:Food for Thought

Posted by Guru on August 8th, 2008

Today’s quote highlights the importance of how we live. Someone once said, don’t count your age by the number of years you have lived, but rather by the number of friends you have. One can simply live through the years and make it, if they are lucky. But even more important is how those years were spent.

“It is not how old you are, but how you are old”

Quotes: Food for Thought

I came across this quote recently. This is so true. We don’t have the patience or perseverance to persist and work on something for a long time. We want quick results or we are out of here. But many things take a long time to build for success, including our retirement savings.

“Most people have the will to win, few have the will to prepare to win”

- Bobby Knight

Quotes: Food for Thought

The best way to guage one’s character is to watch how he or she behaves when no one is watching or no immediate benefit is expected as a result of that behavior. Abigail summarizes it beautifully in the quote below

“The best index to a person’s character is
(a) how he treats people who can’t do him any good, and
(b) how he treats people who can’t fight back. ”
- Abigail van Buren
