Nature and Purpose

Boomer411’s goal is to provide a noise-free environment that gives Boomers access to the best thinking, reflections and plenty of information from pioneers in the fields related to Baby Boomers as well as many Baby Boomers who have discovered or discovering/inventing new solutions to their burning issues and organizations, web sites serving the Boomers. It is more than a medium to merely pass information from the pioneers. It is all about engaging in productive conversations with you and together to hop on a journey of discovery to invent new solutions that are unique to your unique problems.

Boomer411 Blog will focus on today’s issues, challenges, and controversies in a way that provides less heat and more light. From time to time, we will post interviews with people in the field that are practitioners or pioneers or authors in a related field to bring fresh views, perspectives that can be food for thought to this community. We encourage you to participate and share your thoughts by adding your comments using the comments link available with each blog post.

Though the focus of this site is on Boomers, we speculate that some of the topics that will be discussed here (e.g., aging, retirement, finance, etc) would be relevant and of interest to anyone older than 40 years, including the generation older than Boomers.

Basic Assumptions and Ground Rules

Baby Boomers have redefined every life stage they have gone through and given new meaning to the roles they have taken such as parenting, educating their children about money, or the mythical target consumer for marketers, the 18 to 34 years old, etc. Boomer411 is a place to empower Baby Boomers to reinvent their new roles, retirement, aging or whatever else may be on their minds.

Boomer411 is a place for thoughtful reflection, so the tone of the entries must be respectful and reasoned. Some ideas which will be presented might be controversial. Only through discussion and mutual respect, despite disagreement, can growth and understanding occur.

Someone once said that a problem accepted as a problem is a problem half solved. Though at times it is hard, but putting our problems out into the open and discussing them together can enable us to come up with creative solutions that may be hard, if not impossible to solve on our own. With this intent, we will be open to hearing, presenting information on issues, problems of interest to Baby Boomers in preparing them for their next big stage in life whatever it might be, be it retirement or a different career or a break in career, etc.

Boomer411 is not an organ or official website of any political party or view. The focus is on providing the best available information that is intended to help address Baby Boomers’ questions, needs, problems, issues. All views are welcome as long as they are presented in a thoughtful, respectful and responsible manner with proper consideration to fellow beings.

We welcome comments and questions from people of all ages and walks of life – children, teens, young adults and older ones. No question is too basic to raise. Sometimes what seems simple is actually deeply complex and can lead to profound insights.
